The De Rosa Idol is reintroduced to the De Rosa range for 2016 and returns encompassing the many new trends in road bike design. The design, geometries and materials used are all optimised for the utilisation. The Idol also offers a frame and fork manufactured using Super High-Modulus carbon fibre and features full internal cable routing.
Two types of Super High-Modulus carbon fibre are used in the manufacture and both maintain a balance between structural rigidity, vibration absorption and weight. The frame is a blend of T1000 (70%) and T800 (30%) carbon, thereby guaranteeing structural rigidity, absorption capacity and lightness to a very high level. The result is a lightweight and comfortable, modern frame that features the unique style and flair that comes with owning a De Rosa.
Campagnolo doesn’t produce different grades of performance and with this in mind every product leaves the factory only when it has proven to live up to the Campagnolo quality standard. This range wide performance standard is Campagnolo’s way of ensuring an improved cycling experience for all those who choose its products no matter if they are at the pinnacle of the range or situated somewhere lower. Another factor to consider is the “trickle down” effect of top-end technology and solutions originally designed for the benefit of our World Tour level athletes. This effect brings several technologies found on Super Record to more accessible groupsets in the Campagnolo range and there is no groupset that has benefitted more from this than the newest group in the Revolution 11+ family: POTENZA 11™. Potenza 11™, which in Italian is a noun which means strength or power, is designed around the strengths that made its higher tier Revolution 11+ brethren so successful. So evident is this shared DNA that many components of the groupset will require a close look beyond the logo to identify any significant difference which often is represented by a mere change in material. The Potenza 11™ front derailleur for example boasts an upper body that has a design nearly identical to that of the Super Record mechanical model complete with longer arm to ensure less effort required to derail to a larger gear. The rear derailleur also takes a great deal of inspiration from the recently launched Revolution 11+ drivetrains and guarantees a similar degree of shifting performance as a result. The rear derailleur is designed to be compatible with the all-new 11-32 cassette. The 11-32 cassette signals the introduction of not only a new, lower gearing cassette. The design of the 4 arm carbon fiber cranksets that so well identify the Super Record, Record and Chorus groupsets has also found its way into this fantastic new groupset, albeit in an aluminum construction. The Potenza 11™ Ergopower commands maintain the fantastic ergonomics of the entire Campagnolo Revolution 11+ line offering a grip and control that is identical to the versions the professional riders demand. While the ergonomics have been maintained, the hypoallergenic silicon material hoods have been slightly altered in order to off an even better grip and comfort. The internal mechanism that permits the Power-Shift function has been modified and improved to offer not only increased performance but also unrivaled durability.
De Rosa have finished the Idol with the best-in-class Racing 5 wheelset that has gone from strength to strength thanks to the new design. The same qualities that have made the Racing 5 such a popular wheelset in the past, combined with new elements, make for a race ready wheel. The differential rim height delivers strong and responsive handling at the front whilst better transmitting your power at the rear. The asymmetric rear rim profile gives the wheel a better balance between drive and non drive side spoke tensions giving greater symmetry. Finished off with DB aero profile steel spokes, oversized hubs and high grade steel bearings allowing these wheels to stay stiff, reactive and puncture the air with ease.
Finally, completing the package is the 3T finishing kit, with a Prologo Kappa Evo saddle topping it off. The Idol is a bike designed for the serious cyclist wanting more from the bike. Each model is comes available in 6 sizes

Few bike brands can claim to be as beautifully crafted or as lovingly made as De Rosa – so we're understandably excited about stocking them @ Wiggle. Formed in 1953, De Rosa is synonymous with everything cyclists know and love about Italian bikes: passion, master craftsmanship, skill and precision. Whether it's the hand-finished steel Neo Primato frameset which catches your eye or the Merak Carbon, all bikes are created with the same close attention to detail by the family-run De Rosa company, which is based in Milan. These are the bikes which Ugo de Rosa dreamt of building as a teenager. More than half a century later, his dreams are reality and countless champions have ridden – and still ride – his prestigious bikes. His love and enthusiasm for cycling is reflected in every single bike made. A De Rosa bike is the kind of bike you buy and keep forever...
