Mourenx69 refers to Merckx winning the seventh stage of the 1969 Tour de France. This heroic 214.5km ride from Luchon to Mourenx provides the inspiration for a racing bike specially designed for long distances.
Light action Vivid Shifting is just one of many features taken from Shimano’s top end groupsets, making the 105 11 speed 5800 groupset a performance option for the masses. The shifters and derailleurs incorporate Shimano’s Vivid Shift technology, with a light but positive feel all the way through the 11 speed drivetrain, giving you the gear you want, when you want it, with the minimum of effort. With its two piece hollow axle design, the Shimano Hollowtech II chainset is both stiffer and lighter than a square taper chainset. Mounting the large diameter bearings outboard of the bottom bracket shell also provides increased stiffness and bearing life over standard cartridge units. With 50/34 compact gearing, you can tackle even the steepest climbs with confidence.
The all new Shimano dropbar hydraulic disc brakes give the Moureux 69 the stopping power it needs down the hills. The dual piston caliper ensures even brake wear and a greater performance. Its index shifting mechanism offers the 11 speed drivetrain an economical brake/gear lever but a smooth and elegant gear change.
Merckx have polished the Mourenx of with a set of Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels. These are oversized hubs with high grade steel bearing technology featuring an asymmetric rim profile, differential rim height and double butted aero profile steel spokes. This combination allows greater handling at the front and increased power at the back helping to push your ride further and faster. To top it of the wheelset has been rapped with a pair of Vittoria Rubino to give you maximum grip around the corners.
Eddy Merckx finish there bikes of with a combination of self branded parts and the Deda range, such as handlebars, stem and seatpost finished of with a Prologo saddle.

In the world of cycling, Eddy Merckx is a legend. He is the best cyclist ever; having won 5 Tours de France, 5 Giro d'Italias, 3 World Championships, 7 Milan-San Remos, and having beaten the World Hour Record, to name a few of his victories. In all, he won 525 races, an all time record. And that is why they called him The Cannibal.Eddy Merckx was and still is a maniac of maintaining his bikes. He would often stop in the middle of a race, just to adjust his seatpost by a fraction of an inch (and he would still win the race).
