A high-end competition road shoe from Shimano, the R171 uses Shimano's new Dynalast technology to maximise your pedaling efficiency and the offset strap system helps relieve tension at the highest part of your foot for greater rider comfort.
|Cleat Fitting - 3 Bolt Look Type:||Yes|
A shoe designed for competition in mind. Features such as Shimano's Dynalast, offset straps, wider cleat adjustment and the dual density cup insole all aid and help you to maximise your pedaling efficiency and provide total rider comfort at all times. The innovative Surround upper pattern provides perfect balance of holding power and absolute all-day comfort by wrapping the foot in a way that is securer and more comfortable than any previous designs.
Dual Density Cup Insole
The cup of this insole serves to optimise the heel angle and ensure stability while pedaling. This insole is equipped with a hard, high density, and highly durable EVA heel cup.
Unlike conventional closures, Shimano's anatomically precise offset straps relieve tension at the highest point of the foot, where pressure tends to be greatest.
Dynalast Shoe Technology - creating pedaling efficiency
The toe-spring section of a cycling shoe plays a key role in supporting efficient pedaling. Too high, and it causes increased tension in the plantar, calf, and hamstring muscles. Too low, and you get a bowlegged, inefficient pedaling form.
Extensive research by Shimano's R&D experts has produced a superior shoe last design with an optimised toe-spring section that promotes a smoother, more energy-efficient upstroke. Built based on feedback from pro riders, Shimano Dynalast helps reduce energy loss on long rides, letting you keep more in the tank for that final sprint to the line.
Road racing cycling shoes are designed without compromise to provide optimum power transfer between your foot and the pedal, a good quality road cycling shoe is a wise investment for performance and weight saving and is often overlooked. High-tech materials and precision manufacture keep weight down and stiffness up, this means your rotational mass is lower and power transfer is higher, resulting in more forward momentum for your effort.
