A thermal jersey, such as this Women's Progress Thermal Camo Jersey, is a mainstay of a versatile all-weather cycling kit. It's brilliant as an outer layer on cool bike days or as an added mid-layer to bring more warmth on freezing days.
The brushed-back fabric provides a super-soft feel and it does a great job of holding onto the warmth you generate when cycling. It's also good at dealing with sweat, drawing moisture off the skin before discomfort sets in. And with no windproof membrane used, a degree of air exchange is allowed outside to inside and visa-versa, regulating temperature should the day warm-up.
Gore has given the jersey a slimmer fit, tailored specifically for cycling, keeping excess fabric to a minimum and thereby minimising energy-sapping drag. The dropped tail adds extra coverage over the lower back while a high collar provides a comfortable seal at the neck. The 3-compartment back pocket makes space for essentials and a zipped pocket keeps keys and valuables safe. Reflective details add the final touch, boosting visibility after dark.
